Double Screen Corner

A two-screen action run with the ball in hand. The ball handler dribbles tight through two subsequent screens toward the corner, looking for the corner shot as they clear the second one. If the defense fights over the top to take that away, the second screener cuts baseline off their own screen for a drive to the rim - two scoring options off the same read.

Instructions

  1. 1Set two screeners in succession along the baseline side, with the ball handler starting toward the middle of the floor
  2. 2Attack the first screen with the ball, running your shoulder tight past the screener
  3. 3Come off the second screen without picking up the dribble, staying tight enough to brush it
  4. 4Read the defender: if they are trailing you through the screens, continue into the corner and take the shot
  5. 5If the defender fights over the top to beat you to the corner, the second screener cuts baseline off their own screen
  6. 6Deliver the ball to the cutting screener for a baseline drive to the rim
  7. 7Rotate through both screener spots and the ball handler spot, and run the action from both sides

Pro Tips

  • Attack the second screen at the same pace whether you are shooting or passing - the defense should not be able to tell which option is coming
  • Ride both screens tight; the corner shot only exists if the defender has to fight through two bodies to get there
  • Screeners set a wide base and hold their ground - a moving screen wipes out both options
  • The second screener's cut is the counter, so they open to the baseline immediately after contact instead of standing still
  • Keep the dribble alive all the way through both screens; picking it up early kills the pass to the cutter
  • Clear the corner before the action starts - the shooter needs that space empty to catch the defense on their heels
