A half-court passing and movement drill that teaches players to pass and move, square to the hoop when receiving the ball, and finish with layups. Players navigate through cones while making multiple passes and cuts, learning proper spacing, ball movement, and finishing at the rim.
Instructions
- 1Set up on a half court with cones positioned just outside the 3-point line
- 2Position a ball handler under the hoop with the ball
- 3Position a player at the midpoint of the right sideline
- 4Position a player at midcourt
- 5Position a player at midpoint of the left sideline
- 6The ball handler starts by passing to the player at the midpoint of the right sideline
- 7After passing, the ball handler immediately runs to a cone set just outside the 3-point line
- 8The player on the right sideline passes the ball back to the running player
- 9The running player receives the ball and sweeps around the cone (treating it as a defender)
- 10After sweeping around the cone, the player passes to the player standing at midcourt
- 11The player then runs to a cone on the left side of the court
- 12The player at midcourt passes the ball to the running player
- 13The running player receives the ball and sweeps around the left cone (treating it as a defender)
- 14After sweeping around the cone, the player passes to the player on the left side
- 15The player then breaks hard towards the hoop
- 16The player on the left side passes the ball to the cutting player
- 17The cutting player receives the pass and finishes with a layup
- 18After the layup, rotate positions:
- 19 The player who made the layup gets in line on the right side
- 20 The right side passer moves to midcourt
- 21 The midcourt player moves to the left side
- 22 The left side player follows for the rebound and becomes the new ball handler
- 23Repeat the drill with the new positions
